Sometimes, we need to publish a WordPress post with more than one author (co-author) due to collective contribution in the post. This usually happens in news and magazine websites as multiple authors, researchers, reporters and journalists may contribute to a single story.
WordPress post originally comes with a single author functionality. That means we can only assign one author to a post.

After the WordPress post editor opens, drag the setting option from the right side to the bottom and stop when you see the “Authors” section.
From the author’s section, you can assign multiple registered users from your WordPress website or you can add a new guest.
What else can the Molongui Authorship plugin do?
Besides, allowing us to add multiple authors to the WordPress website, Molongui Authorship provides many useful features. Some of its features are.
Adding Authors Bio In WordPress
Molongui Authorship allows you to add a full biography of the author in WordPress. This is an interesting feature from an SEO point of view. You get to rank your own portfolio or bio in Google or other search engines using this feature.
I suggest you to use Rank Math SEO if you want to rank your WordPress website in Google and other search engines.
Adding Local Avatar In WordPress
Another amazing feature of Molongui Authorship is that it allows users (authors) to upload their custom images as avatars in WordPress. They can keep their own customized images or avatars to represent their profile.
Adding Social and Professional Profiles
Molongui Authorship WordPress plugin allows user to put their social profiles from more than 110 social media networks. These social media and professional profiles will appear when a users profile or author page is surfed.
What other plugins offer the Multiple Authors feature?
We also have another plugin pick for you in case you want some options. The second plugin we suggest you to use is Co-Authors Plus.
But instead of using this Co-Authors Plus plugin, we suggest you to use the Molongui Authorship plugin because using this plugin need editing the theme code files.
The installation process for this plugin is the same. You just go to Plugin=>>Add new and then search Co-Authors Plus in the plugin search bar. Finally, you need to click install and activate the plugin by clicking “Activate”.
After you have activated the Co-Authors Plus plugin you need to go to the User section from the WordPress dashboard and there you’ll see a new option called “Guest Authors”.
Click on the Guest Authors options and create a new user that you want to add as a co-author in your WordPress post. You can enter full name, bio and add social links to the user. Finally, click the update button.
After this, the work with the plugin part has ended. You now need to go to your post where you want to show multiple authors and from the right post dashboard, you can choose the newly added guest authors and click update.
However, the bad part with this plugin is that you need to add a shortcode to your theme file to show the multiple authors in your post. For that, you need to edit the WordPress theme file and edit the original the_author() template and add Co-Authors Plus shortcode.
You can use one of the following shortcodes as per your need.
coauthors() – Displays each author's first and last name without any links. coauthors posts links() – Shows each author's first and last name, as well as links to their profile page. coauthors firstnames() – Shows the authors' first names. coauthors lastnames() – Returns the authors' last names.
In this post, we discussed how to add multiple authors to a WordPress post by using different plugins. But I personally suggest you to use Molongui Authorship due to its ease of use and simplicity.
